Creating single and multi-select questions

Overall, there are 5 Types of questions that can be asked within Upsiide's questions section:

  • Single Selection

  • Multi Selection

  • Grid Style

  • Open-end

  • Emoji Style

Create Single and Multi-Selection questions:

  1. Click on 'Add new section' in the left pane while in 'Create' view mode

  2. Select 'Questions' from the section drop-down menu

  3. Click on 'Add new question' in the create environment and click on 'Select'

Navigate and Customize your Single and Multi-Selection questions

  1. Add your question

  2. Add your answer

  3. Select the picture to add an image

  4. Toggle whether your question is required or optional

  5. Toggle whether the answers are single-select or multi-select

Note: when you toggle on the option to change the question type to 'Multiple Selection' within the settings pane, you can also choose how many options the respondent is allowed to select by populating the window and text box below the toggle.

Creating grid style questions

Grid-style questions are helpful if you're showing an array of ideas/concepts/products etc. to respondents and want to collect feedback on each one within a single question. You can add your attributes and then include a scale answer options that allow respondents to evaluate each stimuli.

Create Grid Style questions:

  1. Click on 'Add new section' in the left pane while in 'Create' view mode

  2. Select 'Questions' from the section drop-down menu

  3. Click on 'Add new question' in the create environment and click on 'Grid'

Navigate and Customize your Grid Style questions

  1. Add your question

  2. Grid questions are set up by populating the attributes in the left column under 'Attributes'

  3. And the answers in the right column under 'Answer options'

  4. Add images to your question, attributes or answers by selecting the image icon

  5. Toggle whether this is a required or optional question

  6. Toggle whether you want either attributes or answers to show randomly

  7. Toggle whether the answers are single or multi-select

Creating emoji questions

Emoji questions are a newer methodology within survey questions.

Inspired by the Plutchik model—that aims to unravel complex consumer emotions by considering overlapping combinations of emotions and their varied intensities— Emoji questions provide a simplified analysis of how respondents genuinely feel about particular ideas using 24 emojis to choose from.

Create Emoji questions:

  1. Click on 'Add new section' in the left pane while in 'Create' view mode

  2. Select 'Questions' from the section drop-down menu

  3. Click on 'Add new question' in the create environment and click on 'Emoji'

  1. Add your question

  2. Respondents can choose from a predefined selection of emoji

  3. Add images to your question by selecting the image icon

  4. Toggle whether the question is required or optional

  5. Toggle whether it is a single-select or multi-select question

Creating open-ended questions

Open-ended questions are an effective way to collect qualitative feedback - adding an explanatory dimension to your data.

Create an Open-ended Question

  • Navigate to the left pane of your screen in create mode, select Add new section and choose Questions and then select Add New Questions and click 'Open-ended'.

Setup your Open-ended Question:

  1. Add your question

  2. The open-ended response from the respondent will go here

  3. Toggle whether the question is required or optional

  4. Toggle whether it is a numeric value only answer

**Open ended Questions have an answer limit of 1024 characters**

Creating Heatmap Questions

Heatmap questions are a great way to get find out how your respondents react to specific parts of your stimuli - they give your respondents the opportunity to click on your image and leave a comment and gives you a heatmap of those clicks.

To add a Heatmap question:

  • Select 'Add new question'

  • Select 'Heatmap'

  • Add an image by selecting 'Add An Image'

  • A. You can choose to upload from your computer with 'Upload', from your Upsiide account with 'My Gallery', or stock photo from 'Images'

  • B. Select the image you would like to add

  • C. Select 'Choose File'

  • You can change the number of clicks allowed by each respondent, you can choose from:

    • Unlimited - As many as the respondent wants

    • 'Exactly' - The number entered is the EXACT number of comments before they can proceed

    • 'Up to' - The number entered is the HIGHEST amount they can

  • You can toggle whether you want to collect comments or not, if this is toggled off they won't be prompted to comment when they click
