What is Storyteller?

Storyteller is an AI-powered reporting tool that instantly transforms your study results into structured, shareable narratives - no waiting, no forms. It organizes insights into meaningful stories, helping you uncover and communicate key findings faster than ever.

Built right into the Upsiide dashboard, Storyteller makes it easy to analyze data, extract insights, and generate reports - all in one place.

Every study tells a story - we generate a unique story for every audience launched, pulling insights from all sections of your study.

With Cobuilder, you can customize your analysis to focus on specific groups, refine which data sources you want to include, and even tailor your story objective to highlight certain innovations or trends.

There is no limit to the number of stories generated within a single study. Storyteller will automatically generate stories for each demographic group, and you can use Cobuilder to create as many additional stories as you like, combining demo groups and ideas to pull the insights you need.

Storyteller is Upsiide’s latest Beta feature. If you have any questions or feedback you would like to share, please reach out to your dedicated CSM, or to our Support team via the chat widget.

Automated stories

As soon as your audience completes, Storyteller will automatically generate stories for each group in your study. These stories summarize your results, highlighting key findings from across all sections.

To review your automated stories, navigate to the Storyteller tab inside your completed study.

Build a tailored story using Cobuilder

If you want to dig deeper into specific data sources or focus on particular groups, you can use Cobuilder to create a custom story.

  1. Enter the Storyteller tab

Once your audience is live, or after is is completed, navigate to the Storyteller tab in the top banner of your study.

Within Storyteller, select 'Build a new story':

2. Set up your story

Add a title, a summary, and an image. This step is optional- if you skip this step Storyteller will create a title for you once the audience completes.

Click Launch Cobuilder to continue.

3. Define your data source

Choose the audiences group(s) you want to analyze. You can also refine your story by selecting specific demographics.

For example, if you creating a story based on Gen Z trends, filter respondents aged 30 and under.

4. Select Idea Sections

If your study involves idea testing using Idea Screen or Idea Split, choose an idea to analyze. You can focus on specific innovations, or let Storyteller automatically highlight top-performing ideas.

If you do not have an idea section, you will be brought to the Review Story Objective page.

5. Review and Generate

On the final screen, review your Story Objective, then click Generate Story.

This may take a minute. If you navigate away, Storyteller will keep working and your story will appear in the dashboard once it’s ready.

Once your story has generated, you can review your insights!

Note: If you create a story while your audience is still live, it won’t automatically update as new responses come in. For the most complete results, it’s best to generate your story after the audience has finished.

Customizing your stories

If you want to adjust your Story within the platform, there are several ways you can make customizations.

  1. Click Add Insights from within your Story to browse the AI-generated insights library and include additional content. You can also add a Crosstab table directly to your Story. Learn more about building Crosstabs here.

  2. Edit Slide Text - You can update or remove any text within your slides to better reflect your findings.

  3. Rearrange Slide Content- adjust the layout of elements within your slides using the Toggle button in the list on the right

  4. Sort visual data- all visual data can be sorted alphabetically (A-Z), numerically, or you can change the graph types using the arrows.

  5. Rearrange Slides- you can rearrange the order of your slides by dragging and dropping them into the desired placement

Export for Advanced Customizations

If you’d like to make further adjustments- such as adding new slides, custom insights, or design elements- you can export your Story and make these changes outside the platform.

Storyteller is currently in Beta. We are consistently working to improve and update our platform. If you are facing any issues with Storyteller or Crosstabs, please reach out to us at support@upsiide.com or through the chat widget!
