Whether your collaborating with teammates or need to share your insights with stakeholders, we have made it easy for you to share your Story presentation within Upsiide.

Sharing your Story

In order to share a Story, it must contain at lease one slide. Add a slide to enable the "Share Story" button.

You can preview your Story in Presentation Mode to understand how it will look when it is shared. Navigate to the top right corner of the screen once in your Story and select the play button icon.

Once you are happy with your insights and are ready to share with your team, navigate to the "Share" button in the top right corner of the screen.

From here, the "Share Story" modal will open. Stories can be shared in 2 ways:

  • Inviting users to the Story to view

  • Creating an access link

Managing Story access

Whether using a public invite link or inviting users directly to your Story, you can manage Story access easily from within the Story itself.

By default, existing Upsiide users with permissions of Space Viewer or above will have access to all projects and Stories in your account— these account level user permissions will remain unchanged.

Adding Storyteller Guests

You can invite a new user to your project as a Storyteller Guest, this will give them access to only the Story, the rest of the project will be inaccessible for them. This is perfect for when you want to present your Story without sharing all the details behind the scenes.

To add a Storyteller Guest:

  • Open the "Share Story" modal

  • Type in the collaborators email and select "Invite"

  • The user will receive an invitation to join Upsiide. Once they create their account, they will be able to access a secure preview link that lets them view, but not edit, your story

Users invited from the "Share Story" button will automatically be assigned Storyteller Guest permissions. Storyteller guests will only have access to the Story they are invited to with no editing rights, and will not be able to see projects or Stories within the account.

Within the Share Story modal, you will be able to see all users who have access to the Story, regardless of their permission level.

Should you need to make changes to user access on the account level, click the gear icon in the Share modal to jump to your project’s permissions page. Here you can update broader access settings.

Creating a Public Share Link

Alternatively, you can create a public link to share your Story. With this link, anyone who has or receives the Story URL can view your story - no login required.

  • Open the "Share Story" modal

  • Select "Publish to anyone with the link" and select confirm

  • Copy the link and share with stakeholders or team members

Once your Story link is live, a public-share icon appears on the Share button and within the Storyteller tab, indicating your story is available to view with the link.

To remove the public settings, you can simply toggle off the Public Share Link to make it private again. This will no longer direct users who previously received your public link to the Story.

Understanding Permission Levels

With the introduction of new permissions, it is important to understand the different permission levels for your Stories. To learn more about account-based permissions you can refer to the User Management article.

  • Storyteller Guest
Storyteller guests can only view the Story they have been invited to, and will not have access to any other content within a project or account. If you want the user to see more than one Story within a project, you can add them to each individually, or grant them Project Guest access.

  • Project Guest Access
If someone has Guest permissions on the overall project, they automatically get view-only access to every story in that project—no separate invite needed.

  • Read-Only Enforcement
Viewers and Guests see all story controls disabled (no editing options) to ensure your content stays unchanged.

  • Public Link Access
When your link is set to public, this means anyone with the link will have access to the Story. Links can be shared via email, posted to social media, or shared via chat apps.

  • Error Handling for Unauthorized Users
If someone clicks a non-public story link without any access rights, they’re redirected to the home page with a notification explaining they don’t have permission to view it.

FAQ

  • I have turned off my public link. Will the users who I shared the link with be able to see my Story?

    • No, once a public link is reset to restricted, the URL then becomes invalid.

  • What's the difference between Storyteller Guest and regular Guest permissions?

    • Storyteller Guests will only have access to the Story you have invited them to, and will not be able to see other elements of the project. Guest permissions allows the user to view the study they are invited to and it's data in Report Mode, as well as any Stories in the project.

  • Do I need to invite my coworkers or clients who have account access to view my story?

    • No, any users with existing account access will have access to your Stories already! If you input their email in the share modal, you will be notified that the user already has access.
