Excluding respondents from your study
Sometimes you might want to exclude or remove respondents from your study dashboard (perhaps they are invalid due to being a test ID or bad respondent).
To exclude respondents from your dashboard:
Select the arrows located in the bottom left pane in either 'Create' or 'Report' view mode.
In the Export & Import Study window, navigate to the Import tab
In the ‘Import’ window click on the ‘Download Starter File’ button- this will download a CSV where you can edit your data and import filters.
Once you’ve downloaded the starter file you can mark respondents that you want to exclude as 'No' in the 'Included in reporting? (Yes/No)' column.
Change the invalid respondents to 'No' in the 'Included in reporting? (Yes/No)' column
Save the file
Finally, re-upload the Starter File by clicking on the ‘Choose’ button under the Step 2 - Upload Modified File section and select the saved file from your computer. Once you’ve chosen the file click on the ‘Continue’ button in the bottom right corner.
These respondents and their data will now be omitted from your study results.
Adding respondent data into your study to use for reporting and as filters
Using filters helps you understand how different subgroups within audiences respond to the ideas and questions within your study.
If you haven’t asked specific questions within your study, but have the data for your respondents located outside of Upsiide (i.e., in your CRM or from an external supplier), you can upload the data into your study by doing the following:
Select the arrows located in the bottom left pane in either 'Create' or 'Report' view mode.
In the Export & Import Study window, navigate to the Import tab
In the ‘Import’ tab, click on the ‘Download Starter File’ button- this will download a CSV where you can edit your data and import filters.
Once you’ve downloaded the starter file you can add respondent data to use for filtering within the reporting dashboard. You can also indicate invalid respondents you’d like to remove from your study.
Add a filter by adding a new column to your export file to the right
Once you’ve made all the necessary changes to your Starter file, click save.
Re-upload the Starter File by clicking on the ‘Choose’ button in the 'Import' window and select the saved file from your computer. Once you’ve chosen the file click on the 'Continue’ button in the bottom right corner.
You can preview your modified data in the following window. Once approved, click 'Continue' to import your data successfully.
