Accessibility Features Embedded in Dig One studies

As of 2025, Dig One has been certified with WCAG 2.2 AA Accessibility Compliance. An array of features embedded in the respondent experience on the Dig One platform have contributed to the achievement of this certification.

Some of these features include:

  • Screen reader compatibility- respondents can hover over icons, buttons or images for screen reader interpretation

  • Keyboard navigation- respondents can navigate study exercises and questions, such as Heatmaps, Idea Screens, and Emoji questions using their desktop keyboard arrows

  • Alt-text- ability for users to add alt-text where there is an active image that serves an equivalent purpose for non-text elements

  • Colour and font adjustments- improved colour contrasting and hues, and more accessible fonts for the visually impaired

Building an Accessible Study

Creating an accessible study not only relies on the software features- design plays a part as well!

Here are some tips, tricks and best practices to building an accessible study in Dig One.

Adding alt text to images

Adding alt-text to your images is beneficial for respondents using screen readers.

In Idea Screen or Idea Split, input your Image alt text in the text box in the Idea card:

Stimuli best practices

Ensure stimuli is clear, concise, and easy to read/visualize. This includes:

  • Select the right fonts and colours

  • Avoid programming text in images- only input text in text fields to support screen readers

  • Use proper image dimensions so the image is clear and the respondent doesn't have to zoom

  • If including an audio or video element, include subtitles. If your stimuli requires audio capabilities, include a screening question to ensure respondents have audio access.

As is best practice in any survey, it is important to keep your survey short and concise to ensure engaged respondents.
